Seth Gilliard


Violinist Seth Gilliard fuses different times and places for a unique experience. In this riveting performance Gilliard, combines elements of a classical Bach piece with a violin arrangement of Flo Rida’s piece Good Feeling. Accompanied by electronics, Gilliard has mixed, Gillard’s violin music mesmerizes. His years of classical performance training are evident in his ease, precision and flexibility. Another strong and impressionable influence on Gilliard is the Israeli hip-hop violinist Miri Ben-Ari. The niche Gilliard is creating with his performances and recordings presents the violin in a new and unexpected light.

Following Bach and Mozart’s direction Seth Gilliard, who goes by Seth G., likes to experiment and push the envelope. The Concertmaster of the Furman Symphony Orchestra from 2009-2012, Gilliard’s extensive range includes jazz, hip hop and pop. His distinctive style and rousing performances have been noted in his hometown media in Charleston, South Carolina, as well as by outlets such as Huffington Post and ABC’s Good Morning America. As a member of the Snow Jazz Quintet he opened for Wynton Marsallis and in 2009 performed for Oprah Winfrey and others celebrity guests at the retirement party for the editor of Essence Magazine. Though a classically trained violinist from the age of five, like his friends he listened to pop music in high school. That inspired him to begin experimenting.
