TEDxCharleston Seeking Idea Makers for Next Event

CURRENTS event theme calls for applications from speakers and performers whose ideas are challenging expectations and enriching the Charleston community and beyond

TEDxCharleston is seeking idea makers and entertainers to electrify and inspire audiences at its next event, CURRENTS, happening April 10, 2019. Applicants have until August 27, 2018 to submit speaking ideas and performance samples at tedxcharleston.org. Successful applications will explain why a submitted idea matters to the local and global community and illustrate proof of its execution.

Applicants making an impact in fields such as technology, business, arts, culture, science, environment and education are encouraged to apply. All talks and performances are recorded and shared online. No public speaking experience is necessary, as each individual is assigned a TEDxCharleston speaker coach.

TEDxCharleston organizers were drawn to the Lowcountry’s natural history yet booming innovation as inspiration for the CURRENTS theme, which aims to examine how unstoppable, incredible energies converge, make waves and create impact. Strong applications will connect a speaker’s big idea to this theme while offering examples for how it enriches the greater Charleston community and beyond.

“We are excited to see how CURRENTS brings together idea makers from across Charleston,” says Edith Howle, curator of TEDxCharleston. “People are the backbone of our region’s evolving culture, and its our mission to tap those individuals with ideas worth sharing for a life-changing experience on stage, while giving them the opportunity to spread their ideas with Charleston and the global TED community online.”

More information regarding speaker and performer submissions and the next event is available at tedxcharleston.org. Videos of past TEDxCharleston speakers and performances are also available for viewing at tedxcharleston.org.
