TEDxCharleston Seeking Idea Makers and Shakers in 2017
SHAKE IT UP event theme calls for applications from speakers and performers whose ideas are challenging expectations and enriching the Charleston community and beyond
CHARLESTON, SC – January 24, 2017 – TEDxCharleston announced today it is now accepting speaker and performer applications for its 2017 theme, SHAKE IT UP. Applicants have until March 1 to submit ideas and performance samples online at tedxcharleston.org. Now in its fifth year, the event will take place Oct. 18 at the Charleston Music Hall.
With the SHAKE IT UP theme, chosen speakers will share ideas that challenge a status quo, question stagnation and inactivity, and inspire audiences to take local and global action. Organizers are seeking speakers and performers making an impact in fields such as technology, business, arts, culture, science, environment and education. All talks and performances are recorded and shared online.
“Because this is a milestone year for TEDxCharleston, we are shaking up expectations for our event as a whole,” says Edith Howle, curator of TEDxCharleston. “We are looking for speakers and performers who have ideas that cause disruption and turn something on its head. We know we have those innovators in our region, and it’s our goal to tap them for a life-changing experience on stage and give them the opportunity to spread their ideas with Charleston and our global online community.”
