TEDxCharleston returns for 5th year with bigger ambitions — and crowds | Post and Courier
When TEDxCharleston returns this fall for its fifth year, the speaker conference will have far outgrown its humble beginnings.
After attracting 100 attendees its first year, organizer Claire Monahan says the conference expects 900 or so this time. Tickets go on sale Aug. 22, and they’re likely to sell out in hours.
Monahan says the Oct. 18 event, a local spin-off of the popular TED conference, has likewise raised its expectations for its talks. Speakers are going through a public speaking boot camp this summer, and they’ll give dress rehearsals in front of local high school students.
